- Expected 24–48 hour turnaround time on helpdesk and income-related requests
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a daily resource for Loan Officers, Underwriters, and Processors, answering questions about complex underwriting scenarios and guidelines in a timely, compliant way
- Maintain 24–48 hour turn times on responses and support across channels
- Research and interpret agency guidelines and AllRegs to provide accurate answers on FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional, and HFA scenarios
- Interact and communicate regularly with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA/HUD, USDA, VA, and HFA-related requirements to keep guidance aligned with current standards
- Track trending underwriting scenarios and use those patterns to recommend more efficient processes across operations and originations
- Participate in companywide Operations huddles and contribute insights from the helpdesk
- Maintain the Self-Employed Income Dashboard, reviewing tax returns, determining missing documentation, and submitting files to IncomeGenius for analysis
- Draft and distribute weekly communications across channels, sharing focused updates on recurring underwriting helpdesk topics
- Troubleshoot Encompass issues from application through processing, including DU errors, address corrections, DTI calculation issues, and credit reporting problems
- Support Partners across all channels (Retail and TPO) and apply channel-specific overlays and guidelines as needed
- Collaborate with the Power Help Desk team to support overall responsiveness, consistency, and efficiency
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with FHA, VA, Conventional, USDA, and HFA guidelines
- Deep, working knowledge of the mortgage industry and core agencies (FHA/VA/USDA/CONV/HFA)
- Understanding of RESPA requirements and Good Faith Estimate preparation and disclosure
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Tech-savvy, with strong comfort using MS Office Suite; experience with Encompass loan origination system preferred
- Detail-oriented, organized, and skilled at multitasking in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
- Strong judgment and the ability to make immediate decisions that impact UHM and its Partners
- Problem-solver mindset with the ability to identify, research, and resolve issues quickly and clearly
