What You’ll Do
- Respond to daily questions from loan officers, underwriters, and processors about complex underwriting scenarios and guideline clarification
- Maintain 24–48 hour turn times on all helpdesk requests
- Research answers using AllRegs and agency guidelines for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA/HUD, USDA, VA, and HFA programs
- Track trending underwriting scenarios and use those insights to recommend process and training improvements
- Attend and participate in company wide operations huddles to stay aligned on updates and expectations
- Maintain the Self Employed Income Dashboard by reviewing tax returns, identifying missing documentation, and submitting files to IncomeGenius for analysis
- Draft and distribute weekly communications on recurring underwriting topics and common issues
- Troubleshoot Encompass issues from application through processing, including DU errors, DTI miscalculations, address corrections, and credit reporting problems
- Support Partners across both Retail and TPO channels while applying channel specific overlays and guidelines
- Contribute to the overall timeliness, consistency, and efficiency of the Power Help Desk team
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with FHA, VA, Conventional, USDA, and HFA mortgage guidelines
- Strong understanding of the mortgage industry, RESPA requirements, and Good Faith Estimate preparation and disclosure
- Solid knowledge of major agencies and their underwriting rules
- Comfort using MS Office tools and prior experience with Encompass preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with clear, professional tone
- Detail focused with excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to multitask in a high volume environment and meet strict deadlines
- Sound judgment to identify key issues, make decisions quickly, and know when to escalate
