What You’ll Do

⦁ Receive and process referral and authorization requests from providers via fax and phone
⦁ Enter and verify demographic, eligibility, and benefit information accurately in the appropriate system
⦁ Route incoming calls and faxes to the correct staff while meeting turnaround time expectations
⦁ Perform data entry of authorization details and communicate status or key information to providers, facilities, and specialists
⦁ Confirm member eligibility for authorizations, including securing newborn identification numbers when needed
⦁ Use state resources by phone or online to validate required information before processing authorizations
⦁ Support complaints and appeals tied to eligibility and claims, documenting correctly in the UM system
⦁ Educate providers on authorization requirements, submission processes, and health plan policies
⦁ Collaborate with Member Services, Network Development, Provider Relations, and Claims to resolve authorization and care coordination issues

What You Need

⦁ High school diploma or equivalent
⦁ Experience in managed care, ideally in medical management with exposure to claims and member services
⦁ Strong customer service skills, phone etiquette, and comfort handling high call volumes
⦁ Ability to prioritize, stay flexible, and work effectively in a team environment
⦁ Proficiency with PCs, Windows applications, Word, and common office equipment (fax, copier, multi-line phones)
⦁ High accuracy and follow-through with documentation and data entry
