The Transportation Claims Analyst plays a key role in the creation and management of the dealer damage classification process, vehicle transportation claims process, and in-transit repair process.
This position works with regional members, transportation carriers, and Mazda’s third-party claims vendor to ensure all transportation related claims and in-transit repairs are within time and quality standards. Responsible for monitoring the vendor’s performance and hold vendor accountable for meeting agreed terms and performance criteria.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
Transportation Claims Management – 40%
- Analyzes and determines resolution for all incoming dealer/region inquiries regarding claim submissions, rejections, disputes, and status checks.
- Investigate carrier claim rejections through interviews with inspectors and carriers, utilizing damage reconstruction techniques and damage causation knowledge to settle disputes and establish claim responsibility between the carrier and Mazda.
- Review escalated dealer claims for unclaimed or hidden damages, analyze supporting evidence, and use damage causation knowledge to determine settlements between the dealer and carrier.
- Acts as a liaison between Marine Insurance and Claim Vendor to facilitate claim settlement timeliness.
- Determines reasons for claim delays and collaborates with insurance and port operation vendors to reach claim resolution.
- Examines write off requests by analyzing supportive evidence, transportation processes, and history to determine authorization of request.
- Ensures accountability for performance and informs stakeholders of latest status / raise issues that need resolution.
- Builds reporting and tracking mechanisms to ensure visibility of defined performance metrics.
- Analyzes claims for trends and collaborates with quality teams, engineering, manufacturing, and carriers to implement corrective measures.
- Develops training material and user guides, conducts user training events as required.
- Optimizes work process by investigating and employing best practices with a focus on continuous improvement.
In-transit Repairs Management – 30%
- Analyzes and determines resolution for all incoming inquiries regarding in-transit repair submissions, status checks, processing, disputes, etc.
- Examines onsite repair requests by analyzing type, severity, and location of damage to determine authorization of performing repairs onsite or offsite.
- Analyze factors such as damage, repair needs, parts requirement, vehicle and model demand, and regional requests to decide on the authorization of shipping a unit to the dealer without repair.
- Ensure performance accountability, keep stakeholders updated on the latest status, and highlight issues needing resolution.
- Develop reporting and tracking mechanisms to ensure visibility of defined performance metrics.
- Analyze repairs for trends and collaborate with quality teams, engineering, manufacturing, and carriers to implement corrective measures.
- Collaborate with Mazda Mexico Vehicle Operations and Rail Carriers to develop best securement practices to prevent theft and vandalism during vehicle transportation.
- Develop training material and user guides, conduct user training events as required.
- Optimize work process by investigating and employing best practices with a focus on continuous improvement.
Damage Classification Management – 30%
- Analyzes, identifies, and implements process improvements to the Major Damage Vehicle (MDV) classification process.
- Reviews, verifies, and authorizes Damage Claims over $1500 or aged over 90 days into Mazda’s system (eMDCS).
- Coordinates and collects all required information from dealers for vehicles damaged over $1500.
- Analyzes and validates each repair estimate to check for accuracy of claim cost and repair.
- Reviews, verifies, and submits damage information for dealer into Fenkell site for MDV classification.
Qualifications and Other Requirements:
Education (Minimum):
Bachelor’s degree or related area of study with emphasis in Transportation, Logistics or equivalent work experience in supply chain sector required
Experience:
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management required
- One (1) or more years of experience in the automotive industry, preferred
- One (1) or more years of experience with transportation related damages and claims processing, preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills & strategic planning ability. Must demonstrate excellent analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills in providing solutions to internal and external departments and management.
- Knowledge of automotive parts, vehicle body repairs, vehicle quality, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) shipping requirements and quality performance tracking
- Demonstrate understanding of transportation damage claims process and repair process.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently (oral and written) with working levels, management, dealers, and vendors.
- Strong discipline as a self-starter and ability to work through and resolve with minimal direction/support on daily issues encountered.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential. Must be able to establish a course of action for self and others/department to accomplish specific goals; must plan and prioritize proper assignments of personnel and/or appropriate allocation of resources.
- Advanced knowledge with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and data science techniques, as well as the ability to learn and effectively utilize other software applications used within the Company
Pay Range:$62,900.00-$91,220.00
Salary to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
