- Travel/coverage as needed for medical meetings and industry conferences
What You’ll Do
- Write daily biotech news stories plus longer-form features
- Build and maintain sources at biotech companies, regulatory agencies, and among analysts/industry experts
- Dig through public records like government databases, court documents, and securities filings to find hidden stories
- Pitch and produce features that add context and deepen reader understanding
- Help engage the Fierce Biotech community with sharp story ideas
- Contribute to podcasts
- Cover major medical meetings and industry conferences
What You Need
- 2+ years newsroom experience (biotech preferred; business reporting accepted)
- Degree in journalism or another writing-intensive major
- Strong AP style skills
- Competitive drive to scoop competitors
- Source-building ability and comfort digging into “why/how,” not just “what happened”
- Strong collaboration skills and clear communication
- A positive attitude and high work ethic
