- Ongoing collaboration with the Chief Compliance Officer, operations, servicing, and other internal teams across the organization
What You’ll Do
- Support the Chief Compliance Officer in ensuring compliance with existing, new, and revised federal, state, and investor regulations
- Oversee a significant regulatory compliance function and help align activity with UHM’s risk appetite
- Monitor, track, analyze, and assist with implementing regulatory changes that impact mortgage operations
- Ensure the company remains compliant with assigned federal, state, and investor regulations and guidelines
- Manage shared projects with junior staff, providing clarity on objectives and driving timely completion of work
- Implement corrective action measures in a timely way when issues or gaps are identified
- Identify opportunities to reduce operational, financial, legal, and regulatory risk across the business
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 7 or more years of mortgage banking experience
- Background may include underwriting, processing, closing, loan origination, servicing, compliance, audit, or similar
- Experience working within a mortgage banking compliance program strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of federal and state mortgage lending and servicing laws
- Experience with MCR (Mortgage Call Report)
- State and CFPB exam experience is desirable
- Knowledge of Encompass is preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly at all levels
- Solid analytical skills and comfort researching laws, regulations, and operational issues
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, handle change, and meet strict deadlines
- Comfortable leading change, solving problems, and making sound decisions in complex situations
