About the role
Matillion is seeking a highly experienced Senior Services Consultant to lead and mentor a team within our Services organization. This role involves significant engagement with customers to leverage Matillion in complex data deployments. You will collaborate with major Fortune 1000 companies and key system integration partners to architect, design, and implement Matillion as part of their expansive data tech stacks. Additionally, you will drive the creation and updating of technical documentation, improve administrative processes, and oversee the strategic use of cloud-based technologies. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely, with expected travel up to 30% of the time to meet the needs of larger revenue footprint customers and strategic partnerships.
What you will be doing;
Client (and sometimes Partner) Delivery
- Deliver and oversee packaged post-sale service offerings to partners and customers, enabling them to execute extensive big data projects across their cloud data warehouses and service providers.
- Lead the deployment and optimization of Matillion solutions, ensuring best practices and effective knowledge transfer.
- Serve as a player-coach for more junior Services Consultants, guiding them in customer-facing roles that require deep knowledge of ETL/ELT, data warehousing, and CI/CD processes related to data workflows.
- Define, document, and drive updates to best practice solutions for data pipelines and transformations in cloud data integration projects.
Administrative and Technical Leadership
- Influence and oversee the development of new content and the technical setup for Matillion, including creating comprehensive statements of work and ensuring the successful setup for professional services engagements.
- Drive improvements in administrative processes and maintain oversight of policy implementation related to cloud technology usage.
Industry Expertise and Thought Leadership
- Establish yourself as a leading authority on designing and building ELTs and data warehouses using Matillion, maintaining a deep understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Act as a senior advocate for customer and partner needs, collaborating with product managers, engineers, and marketing to enhance Matillion products and customer outcomes.
Essential Skills
- Deep Technical Expertise: Candidates must possess at least 8-10 years of hands-on experience in technical consulting roles with a focus on big data technologies, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT solutions. Extensive knowledge of and practical experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and specific tools like Snowflake, Databricks, AWS Redshift, Google Big Query, and Microsoft Azure is essential. Familiarity with Matillion is highly desirable.
- Leadership and Mentoring: Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and projects is required. Candidates should have experience acting as a player-coach, mentoring junior consultants, and leading by example in both technical execution and strategic decision-making.
- Project Management and Delivery: Strong project management skills to handle complex projects and engagements with large-scale customers and strategic partners. This includes the ability to manage timelines, resources, and client expectations, as well as the capability to oversee the creation of detailed statements of work and the successful setup and delivery of professional services engagements.
- Innovative Problem Solving: Ability to design and implement innovative solutions to complex technical challenges. Candidates should be adept at creating structure in ambiguous situations and driving the development of effective technical solutions that meet client needs.
- Process Improvement: Proven track record of driving administrative and technical process improvements. This involves identifying inefficiencies, proposing enhancements, and implementing changes that lead to better outcomes for the team and clients.
- Technical Documentation and Content Development: Experience in influencing the updates to existing technical content and leading the creation of new documentation. This includes the ability to articulate complex technical information in a clear and accessible manner for varying audiences.

At Matillion, we are committed to providing competitive salaries in line with market standards. Our estimated compensation range for this position is $133,400 – $200,100 but the final salary will be based on your relevant skills, experience and qualifications demonstrated in the hiring process.
