The Senior Endpoint Engineer is responsible for the quality and completeness of the managed workstation environment and any other associate productivity devices.  This is achieved through the building, testing, evaluation, implementation, support and governance of modern end point management platforms and systems (hardware, operating systems, software, and systems tools).  They provide consultation and direct technical support in life cycle planning, problem management, capacity planning, workload modelling, integration, and systems programming/administration, and implement releases, upgrades and/or changes, and ensure device and information security within the environment.

The position continuously assesses platforms to ensure business requirements are satisfied and the employee experience exceeds expectation. The Senior Endpoint Engineer ensures platform performance and availability meet enterprise objectives through automation, monitoring, diagnostics, timely service restoration, and tuning.  This role also mentors and provides guidance to other team members and is responsible for leading product upgrades and the evaluation of new platform functionality in collaboration with all key stakeholders.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

  • Installs, customizes, maintains, tests, and troubleshoots endpoint related operating systems.
  • Configures, tests, and troubleshoots endpoint hardware systems.
  • Plans and implements life cycle management of endpoint software and hardware.
  • Creates and maintains equipment standards and supporting documentation for endpoint devices.
  • Maintains technology, processes, and policies to enable the secure use of endpoint devices.
  • Monitors, manages, and tunes platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved.
  • Defines alert thresholds.
  • Creates and maintains complex scripts to automate repetitive tasks and support automated workflows.
  • Simplifies, standardizes, and automates wherever possible.
  • Designs, develops, and manages software deployment packages and installer applications.
  • Consults with other business units to understand their endpoint requirements.
  • Analyzes, designs, and documents platforms/systems to meet enterprise requirements.
  • Implements changes to platforms with minimal impact to the business by following enterprise standards and procedures.
  • Provides Level 3 technical support, as needed, to the enterprise.
  • Performs root cause analysis to quickly recover from service interruptions, and to prevent recurring problems.
  • Liaises with the 3rd party suppliers, Service Desk, and all other internal IT departments to ensure the effective escalation and resolution of problems.
  • Ensures platforms/systems conform to established enterprise/industry standards (systems management, security, operating systems, etc.) and reference models.
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends new technologies for enterprise use to consistently drive down total cost of ownership.
  • Establishes baseline endpoint configuration needs for inclusion in the CMDB and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Stays ahead of industry and technology trends.
  • Acts as a lead on the team, offering mentorship and providing guidance to team members when needed.
  • See themselves as part of the greater whole in meeting or exceeding business objectives on a regular basis, as well as assistance in driving key initiatives.
  • Regularly reviews license compliance and ensures that the license investment is utilized in the most efficient way possible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Information System, Computer Technology or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Extensive experience with software, application, and operating system administration, support, patching, packaging, deployments to Windows, Apple, and Android end user devices including (desktops, laptops, virtual desktops, iPads, tablets).
  • Extensive experience with major OEM third-party software such as Microsoft Office 365 products, Adobe, Java etc.).
  • Broad experience with Microsoft Intune and JAMF.
  • Broad experience with Autopilot and Operating System deployment.
  • Detailed understanding of endpoint-based technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge and aptitude with configuring and troubleshooting hardware and software on PCs.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory host records and group object policies.
  • Knowledge of application packaging, deployments, and customizations.
  • Knowledge of Windows security updates, Driver, and system patching.
  • Knowledge of Full Disk Encryption, BitLocker, and Microsoft Defender suite of security products.
  • Knowledge of GPO, Configuration profiles, Compliance policies, and Conditional access.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell or equivalent scripting language.
  • Knowledge and background with the creation of technical and non-technical documentation and user guides.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical skills and debugging/resolution skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Maintains composure under pressure.
