The Property Work Assist Sr. Claims Assistant II will partner with Property Adjusters to support customers by handling Property claims tasks. Their Job function will act as the property adjuster when the full file adjuster is out of office. Their day-to-day responsibilities will include such items as interpreting policy information, generating updates to estimates, updating contents pricing, completing data entry and content pricing of smaller estimates, identifying variances from approved coverage, processing supplements, and moving claim files further to resolution. Each of these activities will be done with limited amounts of leadership oversight. Customer, vendors, and contractor interaction will be constant and the SCA II will be expected to make decisions during these interactions on coverage and best resolution steps. Follows claims handling procedures and applies advanced-level administrative skills and intermediate level insurance knowledge to accomplish both routine and non-routine tasks and duties.
Responsibilities
- Reviews, evaluates, and categorizes incoming Property documents. Verifies information for accuracy/appropriateness and follows up with others (including our customers, contractors, venders, and claims staff) for missing or questionable data. Prepares and assembles documents for distributing to outside contacts and documenting our claim decision. These activities will be completed on all complexity levels of claim files with limited leadership oversight.
- Enters and retrieves information of varying complexity using systems and applications to update records, obtain information for progression of file handling, responds independently to questions and escalations, and verifies claim status and decisions with customers and vendors. Each of these items will be carried out with limited leader oversight.
- Adjusts portions of the customers submission on mild to moderately complex claim scenarios. With moderate leadership oversight and adjuster “pre-approval”.
- Issues payments to customers and vendors based on updates made to the claim. Communicating those settlements with explanation and updated policy documents to our customer.
- Uses advanced skills and business knowledge to prepare correspondence and process other insurance transactions to provide customer service and support efforts.
- Handles complex Recoverable Depreciation claims with limited oversight.
- Completes supplements in alignment with estimating guidelines on low complexity claims.
- Uses judgment to determine what additional information may be needed to continue moving the claim forward.
- Demonstrates subject matter expertise and continuously builds product, procedural and technical systems knowledge.
- Interacts regularly with Adjusters, providing feedback to the adjusters, as well as, receiving feedback to continuously improve.
- Performs other related support and adjusting duties as requested.
- Assists with departmental training and communication as needed.
- Supports and assists with office and or department projects and programs. May assist with quality reviews related to training/transition of work.
- Mentors new hires by providing onboarding support in coordination with onboarding supervisor.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or equivalent business experience
- 2+ years business experience within the insurance industry, Property claims experience preferred
- Obtain and maintain proper licensing as required
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as strong organizational skills with high degree of attention to detail
- Solid interpersonal skills
- Decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and effectively prioritize work
- Customer service experience preferred
- Knowledge of claims processes preferred
