Your day at NTT DATAThe Facility Planner is responsible for assessing and managing non-critical space. The primary objective of this role is to develop and maintain all floor plans accurately and respond to inquiries for space-use. The Facility Planner will provide space-management for offices, operational space, storage of spare parts and temporary solutions. Critical thinking and problem solving for cross-departmental operations within the facility is paramount. This role supports current and future needs for the company.

What you’ll be doing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and maintains space plans that optimize the use of available floor space, including all non-critical space such as security offices, office and cube space, loading docks, staging area, storage, conference rooms and parking.
  • Generates reports and dashboards via Power Point or Power BI that provide insights into facility utilization, future requirements, and potential bottlenecks.
  • Collaborates with various teams; Design, Operations, Security, Real Estate, Construction, Finance, HR and other stakeholders to forecast future capacity needs based on business growth, technology trends, and project requirements.
  • Answers inquiries for space use. Inquiries could be for space use change, availability of a room/office.
  • Understand budgets for capacity expansion projects and ongoing facility operations, taking into account costs associated with building and maintaining space; cooling, security and hardware procurement.
  • Understand or research alternative storage options for comparison or alternative.
  • Identifies opportunities for efficiency improvements, including consolidation, virtualization, and energy-saving initiatives, to maximize the use of existing resources.
  • Develops plans and strategies for scaling facilities in response to changing real estate needs, including expansion, consolidation, or relocation.
  • Ensures that facility planning, and capacity management align with industry standards, compliance requirements, and best practices.
  • Assesses and mitigates risks related to space shortages, resource constraints, and facility vulnerabilities.
  • Understand and comply with industry standards and legal regulations, such as ADA.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to collaborate with various teams, facility managers, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work and present with Microsoft suite products: Excel, Power Point, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and Word.
  • Experience in computer-aided design (CAD) and REVIT software for facility layouts and space utilization studies.
  • Experience in facilities capacity planning, data center planning, with a strong understanding of facility infrastructure.
  • Analytical and quantitative skills to assess capacity data, perform forecasting, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Familiarity with data center technologies.
  • Experience in budgeting, cost analysis, and financial planning.
  • Strong project management skills to oversee capacity expansion projects and resource allocation initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address physical capacity-related challenges.
  • Experienced in managing and optimizing space and design.
  • Familiar with forecasting future capacity needs based on business growth, technology trends, and project requirements.
  • Proficiency in capacity management tools and software, including capacity planning software and data center infrastructure management (DCIM) systems.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • CAD and REVIT expert level knowledge and skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical certifications in related field, plus
  • Minimum 5+ years experience with Real Estate planning and design.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • On-camera video calls are required
  • Ability to travel to buildings and meetings

WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel 10-15% for building tours and meetings when required

This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.


NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $ 74,400- $ 106,100.


All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
