What You’ll Do
As a Scheduler, you’ll manage and publish emergency department schedules to ensure coverage, accuracy, and minimal disruptions. You’ll serve as a key partner to physicians, medical directors, and leadership, while providing 24-hour on-call scheduling support on a rotating basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, update, and distribute clinician schedules at least two months in advance
- Ensure accurate use of scheduling software; create manual schedules where software is not used
- Coordinate with clinicians and medical directors to fill uncovered shifts
- Serve as first line of support for last-minute callouts, finding coverage with minimal cost impact
- Manage shift bonus budgets and maintain accurate daily records
- Maintain up-to-date provider contact information and schedule data
- Decide when to engage locum tenens vendors if coverage gaps remain
- Provide on-call scheduling support on a rotating basis (24-hour availability during assigned shifts)
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providers, and leadership
- Support department goals, process improvements, and training initiatives
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication (written and verbal)
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Scheduling, healthcare, or administrative experience preferred
