As an inside catastrophe (CAT) claims adjuster on our Home & Property team, you’ll care for customers impacted by wildfires, hailstorms, tornadoes and other weather-related events. Primarily over the phone, you’ll handle coverage and damage analysis on residential property claims once you receive completed estimates. Using strong negotiation and customer service skills, you’ll ensure claims are fairly and accurately investigated for our customers.

This is a remote position. 

Duties & responsibilities

  • Approve and adjust estimates of damage and loss amounts
  • Determine extent of company liability
  • Estimate cost of repair, replacement, or compensation
  • Identify and communicate potential underwriting concerns, Special Investigations Unit (SIU) involvement, and subrogation potential
  • Prepare settlement letters, denial letters, Reservation of Rights, and other letters as needed
  • Handle primarily weather-related losses via desk adjusting via inbound and outbound calls in a centralized Claims operation for multiple states and jurisdictions. 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced, high volume contact center environment.

Must-have qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and at least nine months of experience in property claims handling
  • Instead of the above, an associate degree and three years of work experience within financial services, customer service, construction, property management, or related field; at least nine months of which must be in property claims handling
  • Instead of a degree, five years of work experience in one of the fields noted above; at least nine months of which must be in property claims handling
  • Adjuster 620 License required within 30 days of hire

Compensation 

  • $51,200-$68,300/year
  • Gainshare bonus up to 16% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
  • You may be eligible for additional pay during designated catastrophes. Catastrophe events may be declared for reasons such as volume resulting from weather and depending on business need
