Principal Technical Project Management

Location: Santa Clara, CA OR New York, NY, OR Remote (US)

We are looking for an experienced Principal Technical Project Manager, who has a passion for working with Product Development Teams. As a Principal Technical Project Management at Chegg, you are detail-oriented, solution-focused and collaborative, and you bring strong project management and superior Scrum Master expertise to our Technical Project Management team and product development squads.

This role is for you if you love coordinating behind-the-scenes to make sure our most critical product engineering projects are delivered, are passionate about developing and implementing new processes that enable our Product Development teams to operate efficiently, and you enjoy mentoring and coaching team members to grow their technical project management and agile skills.

We partner closely with the business, product, engineering, marketing and operations leadership to ensure alignment from strategy to delivery. Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Project Leadership: You will partner with program management, product management, engineering and ux to lead the strategic planning and execution of complex technical projects, leveraging knowledge to bring actionable recommendations to organization leaders.
  • Agile Team Integration: You will maintain an embedded role within Scrum teams while becoming an organization-wide agile coach.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Mentor,guide, and up-level, other technical project managers and technical teams in cultivating a culture of agility across the organization, guiding teams, and stakeholders toward agile excellence.
  • Strategic Thinking: You apply advanced critical thinking skills to drive transformative change, aligning organizational goals with Agile principles.
  • Advanced Risk Management: You will lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks across complex technical projects, developing and implementing robust strategies to manage potential issues before they impact project timelines, deliverables, or quality.
  • Operational Excellence in Technical Delivery: Driving the adoption of best practices in technical project management, Agile methodologies, and process optimization, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team performance and project outcomes.
  • Communication: Be a visionary for Agile practices, communicating the strategic benefits of Agile and Scrum to leaders and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Innovation: Advise and influence company direction through technical and operational solutions. Articulate and obtain understanding of complex and strategic objectives and initiatives throughout Chegg.

Requirements:

  • You have a strong understanding of project management principles and appropriate agile methodologies and processes.
  • You have experience driving product engineering projects
  • You have worked and coached teams in an agile framework.
  • You take ownership of problems and never shy away from a challenge.
  • You are flexible and tolerate ambiguity while still operating effectively.
  • You are a self-learner, willing to learn new skills, industries, and platforms
  • Solid understanding of engineering’s role within an organization
  • Able to articulate and obtain understanding of the complex and strategic objectives and initiatives throughout the company
  • Certified Scrum Master

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus twelve years of related industry experience
  • Master’s degree with ten years
  • Proficiency in project management software tools such as Jira Software and Jira Align
  • Project management qualification (PMP) or equivalent

The pay range for this position is $155,876 to $385,978. The actual pay will vary based on geographic location, job requirements, professional experience, and other factors.
