Schedule
- Location: Remote within the United States
- Status: Full time
- Training: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm ET for the first 3–4 weeks
- Ongoing schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm ET through 10:00 am to 7:00 pm ET (9 hour shifts including a 1 hour break)
- No nights, weekends, or on-call listed
What You’ll Do
- Review inpatient hospital cases in real time and post discharge using client EMRs to determine appropriate admission status
- Perform peer to peer discussions with payer medical directors to advocate for correct level of care and payment
- Use your clinical judgment to identify the key medical facts in each case and align them with payer and regulatory criteria
- Provide expert recommendations that support hospital compliance and appropriate reimbursement
- Identify process gaps and opportunities that impact denials and utilization management
- Participate in related projects and duties that support hospital partners and the denials management program
What You Need
- MD or DO with strong adult acute care clinical experience
- Active, unrestricted medical license in at least one US state
- Board certification preferred in one of the following: Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Hospitalist, Nephrology, Hematology/Oncology, General Surgery, Family Practice, Critical Care, or Infectious Disease
- At least 1 year of recent adult acute care hospital experience in the US within the last 5 years or recent physician advisor experience
- Comfort working in hospital EMRs and navigating payer criteria
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for clinical and payer discussions
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with a broader physician and operations team
