As our People Ops Payroll Specialist, you will also work closely with our People Operations Lead, HRBP Generalist, Recruiting, Accounting, and Head of People to provide a seamless end-to-end experience to our employee community at BloomTech.
We are looking for a human-first, detail-oriented, team member. You will support the People team’s efforts around People systems management and reporting, payroll, onboarding, and offboarding.
This role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

What you will do:

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from but not limited to applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
  • Works with People Ops Lead in keeping People systems updated and reflective of any team and/or employee job changes
  • Review, audit, reconcile and correct/update payroll prior to transmission to ensure proper pay calculations, tax calculations, and general ledger processes are performed completely, accurately, and in compliance with company policy, federal, state, and local regulations
  • Responsible for updating payroll related information
  • Process stop payments, retroactive pay, wage garnishment, and other payroll-related indicative data
  • Determine appropriate state and local income and unemployment taxation
  • Ensure accurate processing of all involuntary and voluntary deductions
  • Works with the Accounting team to balance GL
  • Work with Head of People, People Ops Lead, and Finance Team to ensure completion and accuracy of compliance reporting: ACA reporting Forms 1094-C and 1095-C, 1099s, Form 5500 for 401k, Compliance Discriminatory Testing
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc.)
  • Provide related reports to management in response to audits and in support of day-to-day requests
  • Provide support to employees and department supervisors with payroll questions
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning payroll law and leaves of absence under various federal and state statutes
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple internal departments to collect timecards and other payroll-related transactions
  • Up to date knowledge of payroll best practices in the US
  • Assist the People Operations Lead with new hire orientation, benefits administration, contractor lifecycle, and other program/projects
  • Assist the People Team on other assignments and/or special projects as requested
  • Assist the Head of People with people data analytic projects and reporting
  • Documents Payroll processes and procedures

What you’ll bring:

  • You have minimum 5 years of experience administering payroll
  • You have proven experience utilizing and maintaining an HRIS system
  • Proven expertise in end-to-end payroll processing and knowledge of Federal and State regulations is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Easily navigate complex problems and drive them to solution
  • You have a ‘human first’ mentality and can build rapport and trust with teammates, internal stakeholders, managers, and employees
  • You have meticulous attention to detail and have outstanding organizational skills
  • You maintain the highest standard of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism
