We’re looking for an experienced payment Risk lead to join the Transfers + Payments team. Our team is focused on making it easy for consumers to pay by bank – we are reimagining how millions of consumers and fintechs move money in a convenient and secure way. Our service is depended on by dozens of companies to power their ACH payment needs and is growing rapidly, and we’re looking for someone to manage our payment risk model and ensure we maintain an acceptable profit/loss ratio.

  • Playing the role of subject matter expert and leader in payment risk management
  • Influencing leadership on how to run an effective, efficient payment risk function
  • Ensuring that day-to-day payment risk processes are completed at high quality, resulting in minimal losses
  • Developing and tracking key metrics to drive execution and identify opportunities for operational improvement
  • Building out processes, success measures, and operational playbooks outlining how Plaid would respond under various circumstances
  • Running impactful inferential analyses and data investigations to identify recurring patterns, root causes, and propose actionable product solutions
  • Anticipating issues and risk, taking proactive measures to mitigate
  • Building the payment Risk function, including hiring and managing a team

What excited us

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in payment risk (even better if you have experience at a high-growth fintech startup)
  • Direct experience managing a payment risk team (even better if you’ve built up a team from the ground up)
  • Deep understanding of various statistical techniques and experimentation analysis workflows
  • Strong familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools
  • Organization and an ability to develop processes and playbooks so that we can all sleep well at night
  • Track record of setting and meeting/exceeding operational metrics
