Job Description

INTRODUCTION:


The Payment Operations Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of financial transactions within the organization.   This individual will focus on processing member payments, chargebacks and returns, resolving payment discrepancies, and reconciling the financial activity on the companies multiple billing platforms.  The ideal candidate possesses a strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of the company’s member billing.  The Payment Operations team is responsible for the company’s payment processing as well as merchant services and chargebacks. Additionally, the team adds value by reporting on metrics and trends and proactively identifying issues and opportunities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Execute and monitor daily payment transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to obtain necessary information for payment processing.
  • Work closely with the banks, processors, management, and software development to identify and rectify any discrepancies in payment processing in a timely manner.
  • Process and reconcile ACH returns.
  • Process and reconcile Credit Card chargebacks.
  • Process and reconcile payments received from bill payment providers.
  • Review, process and reconcile member refund requests, to ensure validity and accuracy.
  • Review, process and reconcile reversals and repost for ACH, credit cards, and checks.
  • Review, process and reconcile Club Account/Recurring Service (Misc Post) payments and client remittance for this activity.
  • Set up client’s banking information for remittance in multiple billing systems.
  • Cross trains with other team members to ensure no single point of failure.
  • Analyze existing payment processes and propose improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager or management.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Some college preferred.
  • Experience in payment operations, financial reconciliation, or a similar role.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including punctuation, spelling, grammar, and professional writing technique.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial transactions.
  • Basic skills include but are not limited to addition, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to frequent change.
  • Ability to utilize multiple programs simultaneously across more than one monitor.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and take calculated risks.
  • Strong sense of ownership, resilience, drive to have an impact, and entrepreneurial spirit are musts.

AND IT’S GREAT TO HAVE:

  • 2+ years experience in accounting, payment processing and/or software-as-a-service industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of ABC’s multiple billing systems.
  • An operationally focused mindset, with an ability to see a deal through to success, far beyond signing, leading teams through execution by using planning, metrics, and organizational structures.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only and based on employees in the United States and may be different in other countries. Salaries are based on candidate experience, qualifications, and location, as well as market and business considerations. Our pay range for U.S.-based candidates for this position is $16.00 — $21.00 USD hourly. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and commissions.
