Overview
The Patient Billing and Collections Analyst supports all patient cost share collection activity and performs operational functions (e.g. monitoring AutoPay and reporting, processing and making system adjustments for various patient payment activities and suspension of services.) Responds to ad hoc requests for support and analysis. Provides feedback and process improvement ideas. Requires limited supervision and technical assistance.
Responsibilities
In this Job, you will:
- Oversee APC (Auto payment collections) to ensure this program operates efficiently:
- Leverage reporting to identify the following situations and make any necessary updates in Unity or take other actions to resolve:
- Billing errors
- Patient APC non-compliance
- Payment errors
- Failed transactions
- Patient un-enrollments
- Changes in billing account status
- Bad Debt Adjustment reversal
- Process patient credits that affect patient billing and collections.
- Handle Patient Billing rejections from our patient print and mail vendor.
- Review accounts where invoices are not being sent; Auditing that voids, short pays, and bankruptcy requests have been processed properly
- Manage secondary government insurance balances and determines if the need to be adjusted or billed.
- Assist the claims team, verifying patient deductibles for patients on the Suspension of Services program to determine if claims should be approved or denied.
- Complete all Unity “cash moves” and refunds for Patient Billing.
- Create documentation as needed.
- Train the Patient Services Team as needed on cash moved and refunds.
- Handle other escalations, ad-hoc research requests and special projects, as needed.
Qualifications
You should get in touch if you have:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, plus a minimum of 1 year of experience, preferably in healthcare operations.
- Experience with the Unity application preferred.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills required.
- Experience with working independently as well as in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Experience in cash posting or credit management desirable.
