What You’ll Do
- Handle inbound and outbound patient calls about medical claims, insurance questions, and concerns
- Aim for first-call resolution when possible
- Navigate multiple systems to verify information and resolve issues
- De-escalate tense conversations and keep things solution-focused
- Build rapport using a friendly, professional communication style
- Verify and update patient demographic information as needed
- Educate patients on claim status, forms, benefits, and payment options
- Document all interactions accurately and maintain detailed records
- Gather patient feedback and flag improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve issues efficiently
- Follow up with patients to confirm resolution and satisfaction
- Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
- Meet timeliness, quality, and accuracy expectations while managing call volume
- Handle other duties as assigned
What You Need
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate’s preferred)
- 1–2 years of experience in customer service, healthcare, or patient advocacy (preferred)
- Familiarity with insurance processes, medical terminology, and healthcare regulations
- Comfortable with call center tools/CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and de-escalation skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
