What You’ll Do
- Review open accounts to identify payment source and determine status
- Review payer contracts to confirm reimbursement details
- Navigate and review client host systems
- Review 835s and EOBs for correct payments and adjustments
- Resolve payment variances, denials, and credit balances
- Work correspondence related to assigned accounts
- Update patient demographics in host systems as needed
- Document follow-up actions clearly and consistently
- Escalate issues when appropriate
- Maintain integrity of PHI and comply with HIPAA expectations
- Meet daily productivity goals and Internal Quality Control standards
What You Need
- Minimum 2 years of experience (or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience)
- High school diploma or GED required (associate degree or equivalent experience preferred)
- Medical billing credentials preferred
- Knowledge of healthcare terminology
- Understanding of HIPAA and PHI concepts
- Comfort working on a computer and using healthcare billing software
- Strong time management and problem solving skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented work style
- Strong communication skills across phone, email, and in person
