- Requires a dedicated, distraction-free home workspace
Responsibilities
- Review open patient accounts and determine payment sources
- Follow up with patients, payers, and healthcare systems to resolve billing issues
- Review payer contracts for correct reimbursement
- Analyze 835s and EOBs to confirm adjustments and payments
- Resolve denials, variances, and credit balances
- Update patient demographics and document all account actions
- Escalate issues when needed
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant handling of PHI
- Meet daily productivity and quality control standards
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience, or equivalent education/certification
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred
- Medical billing or healthcare revenue cycle credentials preferred
- Strong knowledge of healthcare terminology, HIPAA, and PHI
- Proficiency with computers and billing software
- Excellent communication skills by phone, email, and in person
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
- Strong time management and problem-solving ability
- Ability to sit for extended periods and lift up to 10–25 lbs occasionally
