What You’ll Do
- Review and resolve patient accounts through claim research, demographic updates, and payor follow-ups
- Contact insurers, patients, and third parties via phone, email, or online tools
- Identify billing or coding issues, request re-bills or corrected claims, and create dispute records when needed
- Document all actions clearly in the patient accounting system
- Monitor payor trends, escalate delays, and help avoid aging accounts
- Support teammates who are absent or backlogged
- Participate in trainings, meetings, and ongoing development
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations across all payor types
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent; business or accounting coursework preferred
- 1–4 years of medical claims or hospital collections experience
- Ability to type at least 45 WPM
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
- Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills
- Ability to learn hospital systems such as ACE, VI Web, IMaCS, and OnDemand
- Understanding of Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid payors
- Knowledge of UB-04, HCFA 1500, EOBs, contract language, and payor processing terms
- Problem-solving ability, critical thinking, and strong follow-through
