What You’ll Do
- Research and resolve patient accounts by reviewing claims, updating demographics, accessing payor websites, and conducting follow-ups with insurers or patients
- Review contracts, identify billing/coding issues, and initiate re-bills, corrected claims, or secondary filings
- Document all actions and claim statuses clearly in the patient accounting system
- Escalate aged or problematic accounts to leadership and identify payor delays or trends
- Request additional documentation from patients, medical records, or other departments as needed
- Support absent or backlogged teammates by working additional inventory
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and ongoing development sessions
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent; business or accounting coursework preferred
- 1–4 years of medical claims or hospital collections experience
- Intermediate Microsoft Word/Excel skills
- Ability to learn ACE, VI Web, IMaCS, OnDemand, and other hospital systems
- Strong communication, documentation, and critical-thinking skills
- Understanding of Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, Medicaid, and payor processing terms (HMO, PPO, IPA, Capitation)
- Knowledge of UB-04, HCFA 1500, EOBs, and contract language
- Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and complete tasks with minimal assistance
