What You’ll Do
- Handle complex billing, collections, and insurance follow-up, including large-dollar and aged inventory
- Research payments, resolve recoups, correct claim issues, and process manual or electronic re-bills
- Document all collection activity accurately and thoroughly
- Review account details, verify adjudication, and determine next steps for resolution
- Assist patients by phone or letter when additional information is required
- Train and coach staff members, support new hires, and recommend improvements to productivity and quality
- Collaborate with management on operational questions, special projects, and trending issues
- Maintain desk inventory, complete reports, and ensure high-priority accounts are resolved promptly
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3–6 years of medical or hospital insurance collections experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced knowledge of UB-04, EOB interpretation, CPT, and ICD-9
- Proficiency with billing systems, MS Outlook, and automated office software
- Ability to mentor, troubleshoot, and manage complex account workflows
