What You’ll Do
- Work assigned patient accounts and resolve outstanding balances promptly
- Follow up on claim submissions, remittance reviews, and insurance collections
- Research accounts using internal systems and payer websites
- Correct and update demographic, insurance, and billing information
- Identify payer trends, delays, and issues that impact collections
- Create dispute cases and request re-bills, secondary billing, or corrected claims
- Document all actions thoroughly in the patient accounting system
- Support team members when workloads fluctuate
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent; business or accounting coursework preferred
- One to four years of medical claims or hospital collections experience
- Strong understanding of Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid
- Familiarity with HMO/PPO/IPA/Capitation and claim processing
- Intermediate knowledge of EOB interpretation and UB-04/HCFA 1500 forms
- Ability to learn internal systems (ACE, VI Web, IMaCS, OnDemand) quickly
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Typing speed of at least 45 wpm
