Schedule
- Contract position
- Remote, U.S.-based only
- Minimum 20 hours per week between 8am–6pm EST
What You’ll Do
- Contact insurance carriers to follow up on past due accounts and secure claim payments
- Research unpaid or denied claims and take corrective action to resolve outstanding balances
- Prepare and submit appeals with supporting documentation for disputed claims
- Handle high-complexity charges across multistate practices in compliance with payer guidelines
- Document all activity in software systems accurately and on time
- Meet productivity standards (7 encounters per hour / 175 per week)
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and all applicable laws and regulations
What You Need
- Prior collections or medical billing experience with strong knowledge of ICD-10, HCPCS, and medical terminology
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with payers
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer and word processing skills (Microsoft Word subscription required)
- Access to a reliable printer with adequate paper and ink/toner
- Ability to work as an independent contractor (W-9 required; must be sole proprietor or business-registered)
- U.S. residency and authorization to work in the U.S.
Compensation
- $6.00 per verified claim (paid per-claim basis)
