Job SummaryUniversity Analytics & Institutional Reporting (UAIR) is seeking an Administration Manager who will focus on the experience of our data-user community. The ideal candidate is excited to shape an intuitive and impactful user experience that empowers campus clientele to access and utilize data. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the teams in UAIR and have input into the delivery and communication of data. This work will include content creation and design of the UAIR website (data.utah.edu), and other distributed materials and reports.This is a remote position with the potential for some onboarding and infrequent meetings in-person. Our office is not currently able to support individuals seeking sponsorship for visa—living in and working from the U.S. is a requirement. Remote work arrangements are subject to change at any time and will be reviewed annually.The UAIR office houses a transformational group of data professionals that turn complex university data into information trusted by leadership to drive strategic decisions, generate official university figures, and support the data needs of academic campus as a whole.As a member of the team, you’ll work closely with the UAIR team of dashboard designers and report writers to translate metrics into easily understood visual experiences. You’ll rely on excellent interpersonal and communication skills to communicate ideas to the analysts, and to support the training and onboarding of new campus data users. Knowledge of industry tools like Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, web tools, Adobe are a must. You’ll employ problem-solving skills to determine solutions to user challenges and possess an analytical mind with business acumen. Responsibilities· Work closely with UAIR team members, particularly dashboard designers and report writers to ensure data are easy to use and understand, and are visually appealing for the campus community to engage with· Conduct research to understand the needs and motivations of campus constituents who use and access UAIR data· Provide guidance, feedback, and recommendations to the dashboard designers within UAIR to ensure data are readily understood and visually appealing· Suggest design concepts and create mock-ups and prototypes· Recommend topics for the UAIR newsletter and data highlights on the UAIR website· Identify training needs and support the onboarding of new users who will access UAIR data and reporting tools· Support the provisioning of access for new users· Recommend language and designs that support the user experience· Seeking and reviewing user feedback to identify areas for clarity· Working closely with the UAIR team to refine the user experience· Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications· Bachelor’s degree in field related to business, communications, data analysis, or user experience (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience)· Flexibility and willingness to wear many hats· A demonstrated commitment to providing excellent communication and customer service· A problem solver at heart, energized by a challenge, ready to independently dive in and uncover the source of an issue or explore the scope of a new project· Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and follow-through, willing to work in the weeds and support users at any level· Professional interpersonal skills, will thoughtfully and productively collaborate with, and support, the contributions of a variety of technical and non-technical groups and individuals
Preferences· Understanding of graphic design and web technologies· Experience with design tools like Adobe XD, etc. and experience in manipulating data and producing visually appealing graphics· Experience in a data analytics environment or experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI· Experience keeping projects on track and advancing with minimal supervision· Experience with sensitive data and topics such as user permissions and access
