Purpose of the Position
The Internal Sales Consultant is responsible for supporting the distribution and marketing of retirement services – including traditional DC/DB administrative services, 3(16) fiduciary services, pension outsourcing, and full-scope retirement consulting – in partnership with the organization’s external sales team. This will occur across all plan size markets in partnership with all channels of financial intermediaries including banks, wire house broker-dealers, regional broker-dealers, registered investment advisors, consultants, Certified Public Accountants, law firms, employee benefit firms, etc. The Internal Sales Consultant works within an assigned territory to meet company objectives as a market leader. This is a remote position and may be domiciled anywhere in the continental U.S.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality, responsive service to all inbound requests for information and sales support
- Prepare new business proposals and provide cost analysis for all lines of business (Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit, 3(16) Fiduciary Services, Recordkeeping)
- Determine custom pricing required to meet minimum annual required revenue (ARR)
- Maintain custom pricing worksheet
- Prepare and deliver new client service agreements
- Lead advisors and prospective clients through completion of required documentation
- Review of client service agreement, plan specifications checklist and client information form to confirm all needed data is received in good order
- Management of prospect illustration process to ensure delivery deadlines are met
- Prepare monthly statistical reporting for team and management review (sales activity, wins by type, ARR, etc.)
- Assist with monthly commission calculations and reporting
- Maintain key data points in client database management system
- Ensure smooth transition from sales to implementation
- As needed, communicate with advisors to understand needs and offer solutions
- As needed, communicate with recordkeeping partner wholesalers and internals
- Assist/participate in point of sale meetings with prospects, advisors and/or wholesalers
- Conduct outbound calls to follow-up on proposals
- Be a resource for and respond to inquires regarding industry trends, plan design and IRS/DOL regulations
- Effectively communicate Definiti’s value proposition, products, processes and fees to prospects and referral sources
Competencies Required
- Strong knowledge of retirement plan services and ERISA
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and be able to adapt to different audiences
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint
- Must be detailed and possess strong organizational skills
- Time management focus, with attention to deadlines and timelines
- A track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
- Positive attitude and dedication to our clients’ needs
Requirements
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science or related field
- QKA or equivalent designation or willingness to attain
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the retirement plan/financial services industry with proven success in the distribution of administrative, compliance, and recordkeeping services
- Ability to grow expertise in the retirement services market, understanding of platforms/solutions/distribution & service models, key competitors, and centers of influence
- Demonstrated experience in the development of strategic business plans in support of sales growth
- Experience working with financial advisors, recordkeeping wholesalers and CPAs
- Occasional travel required
- High School Diploma or GED required for all positions at Definiti
