- Must meet daily accuracy, productivity, and DNFB-related timelines
- Occasional travel (up to 10 percent)
What You’ll Do
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient encounters
- Review medical records to abstract all required clinical and facility-specific elements
- Maintain at least 95.5 percent coding accuracy for diagnoses, procedures, DRG, MCC/CC, and SOI/ROM
- Meet or exceed productivity targets for inpatient coding
- Create compliant, well-structured physician queries when clarification is needed
- Stay current with AHA Coding Clinics, CMS updates, and required education
- Review held accounts daily to support DNFB resolution and escalate documentation barriers
- Collaborate with CDI, Quality, and facility leadership as needed
What You Need
- One to three years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting
- High school diploma or equivalent; HIM or nursing degree preferred
- Proficiency with MS-DRG/APR-DRG methodology and reimbursement structures
- Ability to research payer-specific coding rules and respond to business office inquiries
- Experience with EMRs, encoders, CDI tools, and related software
- Strong communication skills and a high level of accuracy and detail
- Required credential: RHIT, RHIA, or CCS
