Overview
A Milliman Healthcare Management Consultant serves a diverse array of clients including health insurance companies, a variety of government agencies, healthcare providers, and healthcare purchasers. Successful consultants are solution-focused leaders who help clients develop and implement strategies for protecting and growing profitable market share, successfully managing public programs, diversifying their businesses, and leveraging their assets. Our team of consultants are also inquisitive, apt listeners, can quickly synthesize information, embrace innovation, project confidence and intuitiveness. We work side-by-side with clients, drawing on our expertise, skills, tools, and data to help clients solve business challenges.
Example projects include:
Conduct a market study to evaluate the feasibility of launching a new product
Conduct clinical program evaluations to identify and design program improvements
Help a state government agency develop a strategy for designing a new health program
Assisting in implementing large scale programs for public and private sector clients
Evaluate a client’s administrative operations to identify opportunities to improve efficiency
Assessing a client’s clinical programs and analytic models
Write a proposal to help a client win a new block of business
Helping a client prepare for accreditation or meet government requirements
Responsibilities
Support clients on program strategy, design, development, and implementation
Communicate results and facilitate discussions with clients and other stakeholders as needed to help clients develop their desired policy options
Be responsible for project management and tracking (may act as an overall project leader or work in conjunction with other team members to staff larger projects)
Prepare reports and develop engaging presentation materials
Keep abreast of trends and regulatory changes affecting clients
Ensure quality control processes and procedures are followed
Qualifications
Superior problem-solving capabilities and learning agility
Strong organization skills to manage multiple projects at the same time
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work within a team environment and independently manage own work
Excellent computer skills
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or related field
3 – 5 years’ healthcare consulting experience in a similar consulting role, or related experience, and involvement with data and analysis
Clinical consultant positions require clinical credentials (e.g., BSN, RN, NP, etc.) and experience working in a managed care or hospital/large clinic setting that is operating under shared financial risk or value-based reimbursement
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or related field

Our team works side-by-side with clients, drawing on our expertise, skills, tools, and data to help clients solve business challenges. You will work in a matrix environment, learning from seasoned consultants and gaining exposure to projects across a range of clients and engagement types. Our consultants are solution-focused leaders who help clients develop and implement strategies for protecting and growing profitable market share, diversifying their businesses, and leveraging their assets.
Location
This is a remote position. Candidates hired into this role may work onsite in select Milliman office locations, if they prefer.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $85,000 – $173,000, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certification, location, etc.
