TEGNA is looking for a self-motivated, dynamic, experienced, and remote Social Media Contractor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience providing customer support and managing social media for top brands, media companies or agencies. They are passionate about social media, understand the value of customer service and strive to create outstanding results.

This is a temporary and remote work role.

Responsibilities: 

  • Schedule, publish and manage messaging across social media, with a focus on Facebook and Twitter, for dozens of brands
  • Support TEGNA stations during events that require real-time customer support and time-sensitive messaging
  • Respond to audience messages, comments and questions on social, email and text for TEGNA’s brands
  • Help the TEGNA stay up to date with audience trends, sentiment analysis, and social media reporting
  • Work with internal stakeholders and vendors on automated messaging prompts, segmenting audience data, and any paid marketing
  • Collaborate with the corporate audience development team to execute community management best practices

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, journalism or equivalent experience in the field
  • Two to three years in social media management or content marketing preferred
  • Experience managing social media for multiple brands
  • Strong understanding of various social platforms
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Experience with social media publishing tools like Sprout, Sprinklr and Buffer
  • Experience with automated messaging and chatbots
  • Experience fact-checking online and on social media preferred
  • Incredible eye for detail
  • Solid social media judgement
  • Self-starter capable of working productively and remotely
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours
