Two Chicks With A Side Hustle

Job Summary
In 1977, Dr. Foster Cline and Jim Fay were concerned about the number of parents and educators who were struggling with challenging children and teens. Dr. Cline, a child psychiatrist, was a specialist in attachment and bonding in children as well as classroom behavior management. Jim Fay had over 30 years of experience as a teacher, principal, and administrator. They both saw the need to structure the classroom, schools, and the home in a way that would build positive relationships with children. The structure would teach children responsibility and self-discipline while still giving kids the message that adults cared about them.

Over the next decade their research and real-life experience gave birth to the “Love and Logic” approach. They discovered that children thrive when they:

Have loving, compassionate, and genuinely empathetic parents and teachers
Experience consistent limits and accountability
Are allowed to learn by making plenty of small, “affordable” mistakes
Are taught to own and solve the problems they encounter
Together, they co-authored the bestseller Parenting With Love & Logic, created a curriculum for parents and educators, and founded The Love and Logic Institute, Inc. Over 45 years, the Love and Logic approach has grown to include Dr. Charles Fay (Jim’s son) and encompass over 150 books, audio recordings, videos, webinars, and curricula. Today, Love and Logic sells 16,000+ workbooks each year to parents and educators to assist in the raising of healthy, well-adjusted children.

In 2020, Love and Logic partnered with the Amen Clinics to develop healthy, responsible, respectful children, bringing over 80 years of research and experience together. Amen Clinics specializes in brain and mental health, while Love and Logic has developed a wealth of practical strategies in developing happy, effective children. Together, they help kids take ownership of their brains and minds to optimize their biological, psychological, and social well-being so they can live happy, purposeful lives.

From 2016 – 2020, the number of children ages 3-17 years diagnosed with anxiety grew by 29% and those with depression by 27%. Now, Love and Logic is focused on bringing its principles to the next generation of children who have struggled during mental health crisis created by COVID.
