What You’ll Do
- Perform refund and credit balance analyses for Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, managed care, self-pay, and third-party accounts
- Review accounts to identify causes of credit balances, including overpayments, late charges, or contract discrepancies
- Complete quarterly Medicare and Medicaid reviews as required
- Maintain and resolve desk inventory, ensuring priority items and aged accounts are addressed
- Document all credit balance activity thoroughly and accurately
- Respond to payer and patient refund requests
- Communicate payer issues, system concerns, and trends to leadership
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and ongoing job development
- Support additional tasks assigned by management
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: 1–3 years of hospital billing, credit balance, or follow-up experience
- Basic understanding of UB04 and HCFA 1500 billing formats
- Entry-level knowledge of EPIC, Meditech, STAR, ACE, or similar systems
- Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, and medical terminology
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to interpret managed care contracts
- Understanding of Medicare and Medicaid payer rules
