What You’ll Do
- Review intake assessments and clinical records to evaluate work-function impairment and medical necessity for Short-Term Disability (STD) related to behavioral health conditions
- Conduct telehealth psychiatric evaluations for clients seeking medical leave to participate in Charlie Health programming
- Complete, certify, and sign STD forms with accurate, consistent clinical information
- Coordinate with clinicians and care coordinators to address follow-up questions from employers and third-party adjudicators while protecting PHI and maintaining compliance
- Meet service-level expectations for timely submission of STD determinations and extensions
- Maintain HIPAA and state/federal compliance standards and support continuous improvement of STD workflows
- Provide direct patient care for diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and medical assessments as needed
- Partner with Medical Directors, the Chief Clinical Officer, and the broader medical team to uphold high-quality, cost-effective psychiatric care
What You Need
- MD or DO with an active medical license in Missouri (MO), Indiana (IN), and Kentucky (KY), and openness to obtaining additional state licenses as needed
- Preference for additional licensure in one or more of the following states: Michigan (MI), Illinois (IL), Ohio (OH), Pennsylvania (PA), Colorado (CO), North Carolina (NC), Delaware (DE), or Texas (TX)
- At least 3 years of post-licensure experience as a practicing psychiatrist
- Prior experience evaluating clinical appropriateness for short-term disability and completing STD paperwork
- Familiarity with higher levels of care such as IOP, PHP, and/or inpatient settings
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with clinical, administrative, and employer-facing teams
- Comfort using electronic health records and common digital tools (e.g., Google Suite or Microsoft Office)
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, ethical, and cost-effective behavioral health care in a virtual setting
- Authorization to work in the United States
