Overview:
Provide compensation support and consultation to management in the design and implementation of reward and recognition strategies for assigned client groups. Assist in the development, implementation and administration of compensation programs to meet the strategic needs of the bank.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide compensation consulting to management in the design and implementation of reward and recognition strategies for assigned client groups based on organizational requirements and competitive practices.
- Influence decision-making by providing analysis, recommendations, consultation, and expert advice to management.
- Participate in the development of new or enhanced compensation programs, methods, and approaches consistent with organization needs and market trends.
- Develop and deliver training programs, communications and management tools to facilitate the implementation of compensation programs, principles, and practices.
- Perform job pricing, analysis, and evaluation to determine job parameters and competitive job grades to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.
- Ensure programs and practices are in compliance with all organizational policies, as well as state and federal regulations; Conduct audits of compensation programs and policies.
- Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The incumbent is responsible for partnering with assigned businesses to assist businesses in meeting their compensation needs.
The incumbent works with senior and middle management.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minimum of 5 years’ compensation experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ compensation experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
Excellent technical skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong ability to interact with all levels of management and employee.
Excellent reporting and analytical skills with the ability to manipulate large amounts and complex data.
Ability and experience with group and individual presentation of complex information and data, and to lead and participate in project teams.
Education and Experience Preferred:
MBA
Compensation experience in a financial services environment.
