Description
The Department of Transportation is seeking a detail-oriented and creative Communications Specialist to provide vital communications support for the Human-Automated Systems Safety Center of Excellence (HASS COE). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing a variety of digital, print, and multimedia content aimed at enhancing stakeholder engagement and public outreach. This position requires close collaboration with the OST-R Public Affairs Office to ensure compliance with all communications protocols and to facilitate the release of content into the public domain.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Website Content Management:**
– Develop and manage content for the HASS COE website.
– Perform routine updates using the content management system (Drupal) to ensure information is current and accessible.
2. **Performance Tracking Mechanisms:**
– Build and maintain performance tracking systems to monitor communications effectiveness.
– Provide regular updates to trackers for both monthly and ad hoc reporting.
– Develop custom dashboards, charts, graphs, and other data visuals to present performance data clearly and effectively.
3. **Stakeholder Engagement:**
– Maintain and update the internal and external stakeholder lists to ensure effective communication.
– Regularly update communications and social media calendars to align with stakeholder needs and events.
– Create materials for participation at conferences, roundtables, and virtual meetings to enhance visibility and engagement.
4. **Content Development and Editing:**
– Develop, edit, and produce a variety of content formats, including but not limited to:
– Presentations (PowerPoint slides)
– Technical Fact Sheets and posters
– Email newsletters
– Social media content for platforms such as LinkedIn and Twitter
– Articles, thought pieces, and blog posts
– Reports, podcasts, and TED Talks
– Video content and other multimedia projects
5. **Compliance and Collaboration:**
– Ensure all deliverables are Section 508-compliant, making them accessible to individuals with disabilities.
– Collaborate closely with the Government team to identify specific products and services that will meet the needs of the HASS COE throughout the contract period.
Requirements
– Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
– Experience in communications, public relations, or a similar role.
– Proficiency with content management systems, particularly Drupal.
– Strong understanding of performance tracking tools and data visualization techniques.
– Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
– Experience in stakeholder engagement and managing communications calendars.
– Knowledge of social media platforms and best practices for content creation.
– Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
– Familiarity with Section 508 compliance standards is a plus.
Salary Description
60,000 – 120,000
