What You’ll Do
⦁ Perform ongoing analysis of orthopedic medical record documentation and assigned codes in line with CMS, CPT, ICD-10-CM, and Ventra Health guidelines
⦁ Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for orthopedic services such as joint injections, fracture care, arthroscopies, and spinal surgeries, including correct modifier use
⦁ Conduct MIPS reviews focused on orthopedic quality measures and performance metrics
⦁ Complete Provider QA for orthopedic documentation and coding accuracy and identify musculoskeletal specific coding errors
⦁ Audit orthopedic charts at an average rate of 10 to 15 charts per hour to ensure compliance and consistency
⦁ Support coding management with ortho specific insights, participate in client and provider audits, and review work from new orthopedic coders in training
⦁ Provide feedback and guidance to coders on discrepancies, documentation gaps, and coding questions related to orthopedic services
⦁ Maintain strict confidentiality of personal, financial, and medical information in alignment with HIPAA and company policies
What You Need
⦁ High school diploma or equivalent
⦁ RHIT and or CPC certification or an equivalent coding credential required
⦁ One to two years of medical coding experience, with orthopedic coding experience strongly preferred
⦁ Deep understanding of CPT coding for orthopedic procedures across surgical and nonsurgical treatments
⦁ Proficiency in ICD-10-CM coding for musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoarthritis, fractures, and tendon injuries
⦁ Strong grasp of modifier usage in orthopedic coding, including bilateral procedures and staged surgeries
⦁ Ability to interpret orthopedic documentation and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes
⦁ Familiarity with state and federal regulations and payer specific guidelines for orthopedic services
⦁ Solid organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast paced coding environment
⦁ Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and billing software, with the ability to become proficient within a few weeks
