Schedule
- Position type: Full-time, permanent
- Location: 100% remote (work from home in the U.S.)
- Department: Refunds (reporting to the Refunds Department Manager)
Responsibilities
- Receive and review refund requests from insurers, patients, and other parties, ensuring they are handled accurately and on time.
- Post, record, and reconcile refunds in billing systems with strong attention to detail and documentation.
- Communicate via phone and written correspondence with attorneys, no-fault carriers, workers’ compensation, and the Veterans Administration (VA) as needed.
- Read and interpret Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) to determine correct refund handling.
- Manage correspondence, faxes, pending items, and follow-ups related to refund activity.
- Meet department deadlines and productivity expectations while maintaining accuracy.
- Collaborate with internal teams and leadership to resolve issues and support smooth workflows.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Refunds Department Manager.
Requirements
- Prior cash posting or refunds experience in healthcare, insurance, or medical billing is required.
- Strong mathematical ability and numerical accuracy.
- Ability to read and understand Explanations of Benefits (EOBs).
- Comfortable working on a computer with dual monitors and multiple systems.
- Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Professional, pleasant phone and email communication style.
- Strong follow-through, reliability, and accountability for your work.
- Quick learner who is comfortable asking questions and working both independently and as part of a team.
