What You’ll Do
- Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits
- Determine copays, deductibles, and coinsurance amounts
- Obtain prior authorizations for services, procedures, and medications
- Document verification and authorization details accurately
- Partner with scheduling, billing, and AR teams to ensure smooth workflows
- Communicate clearly with providers and payers regarding authorization status
- Track pending authorizations and follow up to avoid delays
- Identify trends or recurring issues and escalate when necessary
- Support denial prevention by ensuring payer requirements are met up front
What You Need
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- One to two years of experience in benefit verification, medical insurance, or prior authorization
- Strong understanding of commercial and government payer rules
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills for working with patients, providers, and payers
- Experience with RCM systems, EMRs, and payer authorization portals
- Knowledge of denial management and appeals processes
