Responsibilities
Responsible for obtaining and tracking authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization. This position requires multi-tasking, computer skills, good oral and written communication and customer service etiquette. Function as a part of the team and keep everyone apprised of the authorization situation. Responsible for Agency’s ability to bill and be paid for visits made by the field staff.
- Answer telephones and provide excellent customer service to our professional staff and insurance representatives
- Run and utilize computer reports regularly
- Provide accurate, complete updates to Agency management on status of authorizations for all patients requiring treatment authorization
- Obtain and track authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization
- Clearly document all authorization requests
- Communicate with multiple disciplines
- Notify Supervisor of problems in a timely manner and works to help provide solutions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Excellent phone and customer service skills
- Successful completion of LPN program
- Possess current professional license in good standing and maintains
- Experience in dealing with insurance companies
- Computer skills to include word, data entry
- Must follow written and verbal instructions
- Must pay attention to detail
- Use computer programs effectively
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
