About the Role
Zurich North America is currently looking for an Associate Actuary to join our National Accounts and Specialties Reserving team. This role will be based out of one of our main offices (Schaumburg Headquarters, Chicago, or New York). We offer the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely (hybrid schedule). You will collaborate with your manager to set a schedule that supports you and the team.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting Financial Lines in the following:
- Conduct quarterly premium & loss reserve analyses to make recommendations for quarterly financial results including IFRS 17 components of discount and risk adjustment.
- Assist in the preparation of materials for quarterly reserve governance committee.
- Ensure loss reserves and IFRS 17 components are appropriately reflected in the financial close.
- Perform loss ratio planning & forecasting including IFRS 17 elements.
- Collaborate regularly with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, and Pricing to develop insights on trends and emerging issues on the insurance portfolios.
- Engage and seek alignment with Pricing colleagues on forward looking loss ratios.
- Communicate reserve recommendations with financial impacts along with insights derived from reserving work to management within Actuarial, Finance, and Underwriting.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area AND
- ACAS or equivalent international certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Solid project management and organizational skills to work on multiple priorities.
Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Other rewards may include short term incentive bonuses and merit increases. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The proposed salary range for this position is $108,200.00 – $177,100.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
