What You’ll Do
- Analyze financial, statistical, and mathematical data and perform core actuarial calculations.
- Support premium rate development by analyzing benefit design, rating factors, claims experience, regulatory mandates, admin expenses, and projected claim costs.
- Assist with preparing regulatory rate filings and responding to questions from regulators.
- Develop monthly IBNR reserve estimates, accruals, and contract settlements across multiple lines of business.
- Help with financial budgets, reforecasts, and other financial projections.
- Assist in risk adjustment analyses and risk score simulations.
- Support trend development, trend driver analysis, and provider contract analytics.
- Maintain reports for internal and regulatory needs and participate in internal and external audits.
- Run SQL/SAS queries to extract and validate data from the data warehouse, then summarize findings and recommendations.
- Provide analytic support for corporate initiatives and share knowledge with new team members.
- Participate in the Actuarial Student Program and work toward ASA/FSA through the Society of Actuaries.
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in actuarial analysis, data modeling, informatics, or analytics (or strong related educational experience).
- Successful completion of 3 or more SOA actuarial exams preferred.
- Background in managed healthcare or insurance operations preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Experience with SQL and SAS or other statistical software tools.
- Ability to meet deadlines, multitask, problem-solve, and use appropriate technology to analyze business problems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
