Schedule
- Remote, US-based (must reside in one of the following states: AR, AZ, FL, GA, IL, KS, MI, MO, MT, NC, OH, OK, RI, SC, TX, UT)
- Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Reports to: Accounts Payable Team Lead
Responsibilities
- Accurately complete state regulatory surplus lines tax filings, reports, and payments while ensuring compliance and timeliness
- Analyze and optimize accounting processes, implementing internal controls to improve efficiency
- Manage credits and refunds for clients, resolving issues promptly
- Assist with the development of training and reference materials, including refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with state partners, clients, and internal teams
- Stay current on state trust laws and compliance regulations to ensure accuracy across all processes
- Prepare reports and summaries for clients, translating data into actionable insights
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum 1 year of accounts payable or related accounting experience required
- Previous experience in surplus lines or the insurance industry preferred
- Strong knowledge of general accounting functions and confidentiality practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Adobe Suite
- Experience with NetSuite or similar accounting software preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, problem-solving mindset, and ability to meet deadlines
