What You’ll Do
- Handle a high volume of inbound patient calls (billing questions, complaints, issue resolution)
- Make outbound calls for self-pay follow-up on accounts
- Review accounts for coverage accuracy and correct missing/inaccurate insurance information
- Explain patient responsibility (deductibles, coinsurance, copays) and claim processing in plain language
- Assist patients with MyChart, including setting up payment plans and sharing payment/financial assistance options
- Research issues, document all billing activity clearly, and escalate urgent/complex concerns in real time
- Contact payers for account status, make hard inquiries, and route/escalate problem accounts appropriately
- Support revenue cycle functions like denial/nonpayment research, remittance corrections, appeals prep, credit balance review, and unapplied balance analysis
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, privacy, and all billing/regulatory requirements
- Complete required trainings and support special assignments as needed
What You Need
- High School Diploma or equivalent (or higher)
- 2+ years of billing, bookkeeping, and/or accounting experience
- Comfort working across hospital and physician account types
- Strong verbal and written communication with a patient-first approach
- Ability to stay professional under pressure and know when to escalate
- Revenue cycle knowledge and Epic familiarity (noted as part of role knowledge expectations)
