What You’ll Do
- Provide personalized tax advisory services for SMB clients, focused on strategy and compliance
- Support preparation and review of federal and state tax returns with high accuracy
- Answer client questions on deductions, planning, and savings opportunities
- Build trust with clients through responsive, clear communication
- Stay current on tax law changes and proactively apply insights to client situations
- Use tax software to streamline work and ensure precision (ProConnect, Drake, UltraTax, etc.)
- Spot recurring client issues and improve internal processes and documentation
- Partner with Customer Success and Product to represent SMB tax needs
- Share knowledge with teammates and support a collaborative learning environment
- Support quality control by reviewing peer work as needed
What You Need
- Active CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification (required)
- 3+ years in tax prep + advisory, focused on SMB clients
- Strong understanding of IRS and state tax laws and filing requirements
- Proficiency with modern tax prep tools (ProConnect, Drake, UltraTax, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (or equivalent experience)
- Experience using AI tools to improve quality and efficiency
- Strong client-facing communication, empathy, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts independently

Compensation
- $72,000–$85,000 (location dependent)
Real talk: if you’re not an active CPA/EA, this one is a hard “no” because it’s a stated requirement. If you are, this is a clean remote fit with a lot of upside because you’d be helping build the function, not just cranking returns.
