Schedule
- Fully remote role based in the United States
- Preferred hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time
- Full-time role in a healthcare support environment
- Requires reliable internet and the ability to work independently and as part of a remote team
What You’ll Do
- Obtain timely prior authorizations and pre-certifications for procedures and medications across commercial plans, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and other payors
- Review and select accurate, relevant medical records from client EMRs to support authorization requests
- Verify patient demographics and insurance details before submitting requests
- Provide all required clinical and administrative information to insurance companies to move authorizations forward
- Document all prior authorization activities, follow-ups, and determinations in company software and/or client EMRs in a clear, timely way
- Maintain and update internal lists of insurance carriers, their authorization requirements, processes, and contact details
- Protect patient privacy by following HIPAA and clinic standards for confidentiality
What You Need
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting (doctor’s office, hospital, or clinic)
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on prior authorization experience, including calling insurance companies
- Familiarity with medical terminology, especially in oncology
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work well in a team-based remote environment
- Basic computer skills and comfort navigating multiple systems
Preferred:
- 5+ years of prior authorization experience
- Experience processing prior authorizations for genetic lab tests
- Prior remote work and/or training experience
- Medical Assistant certification
