As a Medical Billing Specialist I, you’ll be part of the backbone that keeps billing accurate, timely, and audit-ready.
Schedule
- Full-time, fully remote role
- Standard office hours (weekdays)
- Computer-based work with extended periods of sitting
- Must have reliable high-speed internet (cable or fiber) with at least 100 Mbps download / 25 Mbps upload
What You’ll Do
- Process and submit accurate, timely invoices to clients
- Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve billing discrepancies
- Communicate with clients about billing inquiries, payment status, and account questions
- Maintain clear, accurate records of billing and collection activities
- Assist with month-end closing tasks and reporting
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure invoices are correct and aligned with client setups
- Set up new accounts for incoming clients and update existing accounts as needed
- Audit accounts to confirm changes and allocations were set correctly
- Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets to track services and activity across multiple clients
- Maintain Access databases to track billing activity and support reporting
- Perform other related billing and reporting duties as assigned
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience in billing and collections
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle billing issues professionally
- Solid problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and general accounting or billing software
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a remote team
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation
