Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations for outpatient, ED, observation, day surgery, and inpatient coding as needed
- Supervise coding staff, including hiring, training, development, and performance management
- Oversee post-discharge physician queries and ensure accuracy of 3M encoder workflow
- Monitor coder accuracy through continual audits and identify areas for education
- Track, monitor, and coach coder productivity; address performance issues proactively
- Manage DNFC and DNFB metrics by reviewing uncoded charts and optimizing workload distribution
- Evaluate DRG reclassifications and identify patterns by physician, payer, or coder
- Stay ahead of CMS, AMA, AHIMA, and Joint Commission standards and implement updates across the team
- Provide statistical reporting and input for annual budgeting
- Serve as a coding information resource across departments and committees
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Health Science Administration or HIM Technology (required)
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CCS-P, or CPC-H credential (required)
- Minimum three years supervising coding staff (required)
- Minimum five years of progressive management experience
- Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT
- Experience with systems such as 3M Encoder, SoftMed, STAR, MS Office, and EMR platforms
- Strong interpersonal, written communication, and quality assessment skills
- Ability to work independently in a virtual office environment

- Salary: $81,952–$122,907 annually (based on location, experience, and qualifications)
- Eligible for Annual Incentive Plan bonus (10–25 percent)
