Responsibilities
- Validate denial reasons and ensure accurate denial coding in DCM
- Review EOBs and payer documentation to determine appropriate next steps
- Generate written appeals and online reconsiderations based on payer rules and contract terms
- Coordinate with the Clinical Resource Center when accounts require clinical review
- Follow payer-specific guidelines for appeal submission and escalate when appeal limits are exhausted
- Research contract language and compile supporting documentation for appeals and variance resolution
- Identify and code corrective actions in the system, routing accounts appropriately
- Escalate denial patterns or payment variance trends to leadership
- Participate in payer projects as assigned
- Maintain thorough documentation and communicate findings as required
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
- Three to five years of hospital billing, denials, or collections experience
- Intermediate understanding of EOBs, managed care contracts, and federal/state guidelines
- Working knowledge of UB-04 forms, ICD coding, HCPCS/CPT, and medical terminology
- Strong written communication skills, including professional business letter writing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work in a production-driven environment and remain seated for extended periods

- Pay range: $18.60–$28.00 per hour (dependent on location and experience)
