Responsibilities
- Perform internal billing audits to ensure compliance with CMS and federal regulations
- Review ambulance claims for proper coding, documentation, and medical necessity
- Identify billing errors and escalate issues when needed
- Support external medical record requests and third-party audit responses
- Assist clients with compliance inquiries and documentation reviews
- Maintain accuracy and meet audit deadlines
- Manage audit files, combine/save PDFs, and e-fax medical records
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years EMS billing experience
- Strong knowledge of ambulance billing, coding, and modifier use
- Understanding of CMS Ambulance Regulations (Chapter 10)
- Ability to read and interpret EMS run reports and medical terminology
- Familiarity with dispatch and EMS protocols
- High accuracy and detail focus
- Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Comfortable working independently and with a team
